Fenugreek leaves are very good for health since it contains most of the vitamins needed and also a good antioxidant. Not many people know that this herb can be grown within a week and can be cooked. In India, we usually store fenugreek seeds in kitchen and use it for daily use. we take it from kitchen, soak it overnight, plant the seeds and in a week the leaves are ready for harvest.
Things you need:
- Handful of fenugreek seeds
- Container to soak the seeds
- Pot with soil and manure mixed
- Shovel
- Water
Step 1: Soak the fenugreek seeds in water overnight

Step 2: Next day once the seeds are soaked, drain the water and start preparing the pot. I have already written a detailed blog on how to mix prepare the pots with soil and manure for planting here. Using a shovel, remove the top layer of sand and throw in the seeds.

Step 3: Close the seeds with the soil. Do not dig in deep, the soil should just cover the seeds. Sprinkle water and leave it. Make sure you only sprinkle water and not pour water as it may stop the seeds from germinating.

This is how it will start looking the next day or max in 2 days. And in 3-4 days you will see the plants coming out from the soil.

In a week you will the growth like the one below (which is from a different pot though)

After a week or max of 10 days you can harvest this and you can see how beautifully it has grown.

If you cook it immediately after you harvest it smells and tastes great. You can refrigerate and use in few days but I always prefer farm to table method of cooking immediately after harvesting to get the nutritional gain. Please try and let me know how the fenugreek planting was 🙂
